SEA KAYAKING AND WILDLIFEDuration: one whole day.
Time of year: all year round
Difficulty level: high.
Description: From your lodging accommodation we drive very early in the morning north of La Serena to Humboldt Penguin National Reserve which consists of three islands with white sandy beaches and surrounded by emerald water full of marine wildlife such as penguins, seals, a colony of bottle nose dolphins and a great variety of birds. Once we get there we’ll prepare our kayaks (the stable and comfortable Necky Amaruk model), have a safety talk and paddling instructions. In our paddling we visit the Gaviota island, then we cross to the Choros island and as we approach we’ll get sight of the seals who are located in front of large cliffs which on occasion we will navigate through. Once we’ll have visited the Choros island we will cross towards the Damas island, a place where we will have more opportunity of sighting dolphins. We will stay on the Damas island for approximately one hour (depending on the conditions of the sea) to have some food and to recover energy after which we’ll start paddling back to the continent were our transportation will drive us to your lodging accommodation. This concludes our service.
Note: The program can be modified at any moment due to changes in the condition of the sea or any other situation that affects the integrity of the group. If we are on the mainland and we cannot cross due to the evaluation of the conditions carried out by our guide, we will wait until the conditions improve. This may include a change of the condition of the sea after staying at the Damas island, which could mean that we have to stay on the island a little longer. These situations cannot be predicted and are out of our control so they are not a reason for a refund.
